Far Eastern Promise

Cox & Kings Travel Ltd

NEW 2017 FAR EAST BROCHURE FEATURES AN EXPANDED RANGE OF SOLO TRAVELLERS TOURS, CRUISING IN BURMA AND A RAIL JOURNEY AROUND TAIWAN

Cox & Kings' new Far East brochure for 2017 features a comprehensive programme of escorted group tours and private holidays to China, Southeast Asia, Indochina and more. New to the Cox & Kings range is a luxury cruise to the lesser-visited regions of Burma, a new private rail itinerary to Taiwan and an extended range of solo travellers group tours to China, Japan, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Neill Prothero, Far East product manager at Cox & Kings says: “The interest from clients in cruising has risen over the past few years and it is easy to see why – the way of travel allows for a luxurious experience, taking travellers to areas that are otherwise difficult to reach, or which don't have the same level of infrastructure on land. We've also expanded our range of solo traveller's tours in the Far East, taking passengers who want to travel with other like-minded individuals, but who don't want to pay for a single supplement or compromise on accommodation.”

NEW: BURMA: Cruising is now well-established in Burma along the Irrawaddy and Chindwin rivers, so for those travellers who want to see a different side of the country, the Mergui archipelago spanning the very south of the country is another option. Cruising in style on the Pandaw MY Andaman explorer, the itinerary takes in remote islands and visits the territory of the Mokken minority ethnic group without compromising on luxury. Cruising the Mergui Archipelago is a 14 day / 12 night private tour priced from £4,645 per person.

NEW: SOLO TRAVELLERS TOURS: With interest in solo travellers group tours rising, three new tours have been added in the Far East.

Classic China is the perfect introductory tour to the country, including the highlights of Beijing, the Great Wall, Xi'an, Chengdu and Shanghai. The 11 day / 9 night group tour is priced from £3,145 per person.

Highlights of Japan takes travellers from Tokyo to Kyoto and Hiroshima, including rides on the high-speed rail network, a tea ceremony and a cooking class.  The 10 day / 8 night group tour is priced from £6,895 per person with a maximum group size of 18.

Vietnam & the Temples of Angkor combines the highlights of Vietnam – Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City – with the magnificent Angkor temples of Cambodia. The 12 day / 9 night group tour is priced from £2,995 per person.

All Cox & Kings solo travellers tours in the Far East include welcome and farewell dinners, a range of group activities and twin/double rooms for single use without any single supplements.

NEW: TAIWAN: Offering tremendous diversity for a small island, Taiwan is a relatively unexplored treasure that is easily traversed by train. A modern rail system links most large towns and cities, providing an excellent way to enjoy mountain scenery, striking coastline and magnificent countryside. Highlights include a ride on the narrow-gauge Alishan Mountain Railway, which climbs through the mountains via dramatic switchbacks. Taiwan by Rail is a 12 day / 10 night private tour priced from £3,225 per person.

Please note that all quoted prices include international flights from London, transfers, excursions and accommodation with breakfast daily unless otherwise specified.

NOTE TO EDITORS
Cox & Kings is the world's longest established travel company. Its history stretches back more than 250 years to 1758 when Richard Cox was appointed regimental agent to the Footguards (later the Grenadier Guards). The company's fortunes grew hand in hand with the British empire and by the early 20th century the company was acting as agent and banker throughout the armed forces and as a shipping agent. In 1922 Cox & Co merged with the Henry S King bank, which had strong connections with India. The bank became part of Lloyds and the shipping agency grew separately, evolving into the modern travel company.

Today, built on the high quality service and attention to detail established by Richard Cox in the 18th century, the company continues to flourish as an independent tour operator, with operations in London, the US, Japan, Australia and throughout India. Cox & Kings organises escorted small-group tours and private tailor-made travel in the Indian Subcontinent, Latin America, the Middle East, the Far East, Africa, Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, and the Caribbean.
