Creating memories will be the lynchpin for family holidays in 2019 according to Luxury Family Hotels.
Research conducted amongst current, former and prospective future guests of Luxury Family Hotels confirmed that the main priority for families holidaying in 2019 is the chance to enjoy quality time together and this is reflected in the changing behavioural and booking patterns of guests according to Adrian Burley, Marketing Director of Luxury Family Hotels.
In order to maximise family time, visitors are looking further than just the facilities that hotels have to offer and are also taking into account the surroundings and history of a hotel as well as its ethos. Five top family holiday trends for 2019 have been identified on the back of research conducted by Luxury Family Hotels:
Experiential escapes are on the up – Luxury Family Hotels has seen an increase in guests wanting to enjoy more experiences as a family. There has been a surge in guests participating in outdoor activities; bookings for fossil walks at Moonfleet Manor are up 35 per cent year on year; den building at New Park Manor is always a hit with families and the recently opened Family Escape Room at Moonfleet Manor is also proving to be popular.
Family dining has become part of the holiday experience – Luxury Family Hotels has seen a huge shift among families towards family dining, with a 30 per cent increase in guests opting to eat together this year. Thus, providing the opportunity for children to feel like young adults, to try new foods and for the whole family to chat about the day and to plan the next one.
Popularity of 3G holidays continues to soar - Multi-generational family gatherings continue to be on the increase, with large groups coming together to enjoy landmark occasions like anniversaries and birthdays as well as to celebrate traditional holiday periods such as Easter, Christmas and New Year. Luxury Family Hotels is also reporting an increase in groups of university friends who organise weekend stays with their growing broods in order to take advantage of the hotels' central locations which can accommodate large groups.
Historical immersion getaways – For breaks in the UK, parents are increasingly looking at the uniqueness of the buildings and the stories around them, as well as their surroundings. Luxury Family Hotels is reporting a rise in guests requesting more details about the history of the hotels and local areas and incorporating that into daytime activities. In response to this, Luxury Family Hotels has developed an innovative new Welcome Pack, devised by a leading educationalist, which will enable families to get the most out of their UK break.
Midweek mumcations – there has been an increase of approximately 15 per cent year on year in the number of midweek breaks with babies and toddlers, with guests taking advantage of great value offers in the midweek, term-time periods and this is set to continue. New Park Manor Hotel has reported the same percentage increase of adult guests taking advantage of the baby video monitoring in order to enjoy a relaxing evening.
Adrian Burley, Marketing Manager of Luxury Family Hotels says, “We are constantly looking at how we can provide added value for our guests. We have recently introduced Welcome Packs for children in order to engage them ahead of their holidays by highlighting some of the top family-focused activities available at each of the five hotels within the Luxury Family Hotels collection. Our guests enjoy venturing outdoors and appreciating the wonderful settings and surrounding areas in which each of the hotels is based. All of the facilities provided enable them to enjoy quality family time together and create lasting family memories that has always been at the heart of our offering.”
