Family 'Summer Of Sport' On The La Manga Club Menu

La Manga Club

The five-star La Manga Club resort in Spain is promising a 'Summer of Sport' for families heading to the Murcian sunshine in July and August.

Famous for its unrivalled sporting facilities, guests of all ages will have plenty to keep them occupied and entertained through the summer months with new golf 'Total Learning' experiences, sports academies, junior tournaments and Real Madrid football camps for the youngsters and golf, tennis, fitness and spa facilities readily at hand for parents.

Budding footballers hoping to emulate the likes of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo can take part in one of two Real Madrid Foundation soccer camps run by coaches from the Spanish footballing giant.

Open to girls and boys aged seven to 17 years and taking place between July 22-26 and July 29-August 2, the camps, which cost €500 per child, cover all aspects of the game and are full-day fun camps operating from 9am to 7.30pm.

La Manga Club's extensive golf practice facilities and blue skies provide the perfect backdrop for learning or improving the golf game. The resort's new summer evening academies offer children aged seven upwards a four-hour academy across four evenings for only €90 with all equipment provided.

Elsewhere, there are dedicated junior academies for football and tennis (all summer); rugby, cricket and dance (Jul 15-Aug 16); and, for wannabe Jessica Ennis's, athletics (Jul 22-Aug 16). Academy prices start from €150.

La Manga Club is also organising a number of fun junior tennis and football tournaments across the summer for different age groups.

Away from the sporting arenas, the resort is offering a dedicated activity programme for youngsters aged five to 12 years with theme days (cookery, pirates, Super Mario), craft workshops and competitions, all of which are free to guests of the five-star Hotel Principe Felipe or the four-star Las Lomas Village. A fully staffed Junior Club will also operate daily between 9am and 6pm.

But parents are not excluded from the fun and, with three golf courses, 28 tennis courts and a wide range of sporting options, there is every opportunity to stay active while on holiday.

A new summer golf offer has been launched, enabling guests to enjoy a cooler twilight (after 5.30pm), round of golf for two people including a buggy from only €100. In addition, visitors can join in any of the weekly golf competitions, which run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The new Total Learning Experience adult golf academies are running throughout the summer and cover all aspects of the game including putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play and the long game. Computer analysis and time with the renowned Explanar system is also included as well as complimentary club hire and a free round on the Par 47 course.  Six hours of coaching across four evenings (Mon-Thu) costs from €165.

Tennis fans with Wimbledon fever still in their veins can take advantage of adult academies catering for all standards, plus fun tournaments every evening at the tennis centre (Mon-Fri) and an exhibition match with the pros every Friday evening.

And for those parents aiming to get into shape while on holiday, ex-GB athletes Kate Staples and Nick Buckfield will be operating their Adventure Fitness bootcamps from July 22 to 16 August (Mon-Fri).

Additional activities that families can enjoy together include snorkelling and diving lessons and road and mountain biking. And if it all gets too much, a retreat to the sumptuous Spa La Manga Club is recommended for a wide-range of treatments including new Oh! oxygen massages and facials.
Visitors can stay in a choice of the resort's four-star Las Lomas self-catering apartments or five-star Principe Felipe Hotel with a seven-night stay for a family of four available from just €1,148.

La Manga Club also offers more than 20 bars and restaurants and its own Mediterranean cove beach.
