With the imminent start of the 2014/15 ski season, Ski Famille's www.skifamille.co.uk resort staff, including the childcare team, are busy in the Alps preparing to welcome the first guests Nannies, primary school teachers and nursery assistants – the main applicants for winter childcare roles – are primarily female, but there is a new breed of man keen to help children have fun in the mountains, and they have relevant experience in spades.
Chris Thompson, Managing Director of Ski Famille, explains why the company has been actively seeking male applicants for childcare roles; “The traditional nanny is indispensible, particularly with really young children and babies, but if you have a group of active 5 to 10 year olds with bags of energy a few 'mannies' can help create a fun fuelled atmosphere that children adore.”
The Ski Famille childcare team has seven male staff this year from a total team of thirty. Chris is convinced that energy levels, the range of activities on offer and team morale are all improved by having a mix on the team “Our chaps bring a range of diverse experiences to the team including sports coaching, youth work, activity instruction and valuable work experience gained in children's clubs in the Med. Couple this with the more traditional caring skills of our female carers and the result is an appealing blend that works brilliantly in the ski resort environment.”
Ski Famille is a specialist family ski tour operator with well located catered chalets in Les Gets, Reberty 2000 and Plagne 1800. Prices start from £499 per adult for 7 nights including flights from Gatwick and resort transfers.
