Family Fun Abounds in Albuquerque

Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau

Explore a world of adventure with high-wire balancing acts, gigantic nine-foot-tall potted plants and watering cans, polar bears and sea lions during a family-friendly visit to Albuquerque. Kids of all ages, from one to 101, are encouraged to keep their hands on the exhibits at the Explora! Science Center and Children's Museum. The museum features exciting exhibits such as a laminar flow fountain, an experiment bar and a ball-run area.

The Children's Fantasy Garden and Butterfly Pavilion at the Rio Grande Botanic Garden encourage children to learn about horticulture while experiencing a larger than life version of the great outdoors. The butterfly conservatory is open during the warm summer and fall months with hundreds of butterflies feeding on the thousands of nectar plants.

The Rio Grande Zoo offers a variety of exhibits from exotic tropical animals to polar bears; a new African exhibit is also under construction. Children can experience the awe of the ocean at the Albuquerque Aquarium as well as a new Ship Cove exhibit, which highlights details of historic sailing ships. During the summer months, children enjoy waterslides and a lazy river at the Beach Waterpark or a ride on the wild side at Cliff's Amusement Park's new rollercoaster, the Coyote Howl.
