Whether it's Christmas in a Tudor castle, a magnificent stately home, an historic royal hunting lodge or a quintessential seaside hotel, tailor-made packages for the whole family will make guests feel like royalty this year

After the madness that December always brings with present shopping, school nativities and festive celebrations, slow down and enjoy the delights of a family Christmas and let someone else do all the hard work for you!

As part of its 2015 festive offering, Luxury Family Hotels is offering Christmas packages so the whole family can enjoy traditional celebrations and relax in comfort and style.

Luxury Family Hotels' Christmas packages offer all the trimmings with each hotel providing activities and games for the younger guests, two-hours free childcare a day in the Ofsted-registered Den, a games' room for older kids and free baby listening services*.

* Please note that the above-mentioned children's facilities are not available at Thornbury Castle.

A 'Royal' Christmas at Thornbury Castle, Cotswolds

Christmas in a magical castle: Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn stayed at Thornbury Castle as part of their honeymoon tour – and the festive season there will include celebrations that are truly fit for a King!

Guests will enjoy a cream tea on arrival and get into the Christmas spirit with a Black Tie champagne reception, entertainment from local carol singers followed by a fabulous five-course gourmet dinner prepared by head chef Mark Veale.

Christmas Day will be laid back with a leisurely breakfast in the bedchamber. After a Christmas gift and glass of sherry - compliments of the hotel – the Christmas 'feast' will begin. An evening of Port tasting and cocktail drinking will be the perfect end to the perfect Christmas Day.

A falconry display by one of the country's leading falconers will be a highlight of Boxing Day.

Rates from £1,110 for the two-night break in a Classic bedchamber to accommodate up to two adults. Rates are based on two adults sharing. Children stay free of charge when sharing their parent's bedroom (with food charged as taken).  Children of all ages are welcome at the Castle on this package.

Christmas in the heart of the New Forest at New Park Manor

Former hunting lodge and residence of Charles II's mistress Nell Gwynn, New Park Manor's sense of history and original features combined with modern comfort make this hotel a cosy Christmas option.

A three-night stay in the stunning setting of the New Forest will provide the perfect backdrop to an idyllic Christmas. The sumptuous dinner, bed and breakfast package offers guests all they need for a fun-filled Christmas without any of the associated chores.

Last minute gift-wrapping can be done away from prying eyes of children, who will be able to enjoy a supervised childcare session in the hotel's Ofsted registered Den on Christmas Eve.  Activities include making traditional treats to leave out for Father Christmas.  Meanwhile, grown ups can start to unwind with either a treatment in the hotel's spa or a glass of mulled wine and mince pies around an open log fire in the lounge.

Kids will love the special themed activities the hotel has lined up, along with the chance to watch a festive film in the hotel's cinema room with popcorn, hot chocolate and sprinkles.

Christmas Day starts with a hearty breakfast and Bucks Fizz and dedicated rooms are available for families to open up their presents together.   Father Christmas will also be making a guest appearance in his New Park Grotto at 9.30am and all children will be invited to collect their personalised gift from him.   Meanwhile, the hotel's chef will be cooking up a traditional Christmas feast for lunch – guests can expect all the trimmings!

The Queen's Speech will be shown in the cinema room at 3.00pm followed by a Christmas family film for all to enjoy.  The day is rounded off with an evening family buffet served in the restaurant.

A traditional family treasure hunt kicks off Boxing Day – you can choose to do by foot or a more adventurous one by car, culminating at nearby Beaulieu where guests will be given tickets to enjoy the attraction before heading back for children's high tea and pre-dinner drinks and dinner in the restaurant.

Rates start from £1,040 per room for a three-night stay.

Christmas in a magnificent stately home: The Ickworth, Bury St Edmunds

A magnificent stately home hotel, set in over 1,800 acres of National Trust parkland, The Ickworth is a stunning setting for a seasonal break. With the twinkling of the Christmas tree lights and the flickering of the open fires, families of all ages will enjoy a traditional Christmas.

On arrival on Christmas Eve, guests can start to enjoy the facilities as soon as possible. These include an indoor swimming pool, spa treatment rooms and extensive ground to explore.

For those who prefer to put up their feet and relax, The Ickworth's famous traditional afternoon tea will be served from 3.00pm in its lounges.  Guests will be able to catch up on family and friends' news and finish any last minute wrapping ahead of dinner.

As there will be little ones to feed, high tea is served every day except Christmas Day from 5.00pm to 6.00pm. There will be pre-dinner drinks served in the lounge from 6.00pm followed by dinner.

Children will then be able to take a front row seat in The Old Kitchen Cinema room and watch a festive film.  Just ahead of bedtime, little guests will scatter reindeer food ready for Rudolph and the other reindeers' arrival.

Christmas Day will no doubt start early for many families with excited children stocking and present unwrapping.  A hearty breakfast will be served to guests ahead of the arrival of Father Christmas at 11.00am who will be dropping off more presents.

Pre-lunch drinks will be served followed by a delicious three course Christmas lunch prepared by the hotel's chef.

No Christmas would be the same without The Queen's Speech, which will be shown at 3.00pm in The Old Kitchen Cinema Room, followed by a family film. If children just want to play, the hotels crèche will still be open for little ones and an accompanying grown up to use throughout the day.

Christmas Day indulgences will continue with a tea as well as a family buffet dinner. Guests can continue to relax, watch a film or make use of the many board games the hotel has available.

Boxing Day is a chance for everyone to recover. For the more energetic grown ups and children, there is a chance to take part in a family treasure hunt from 10.30am.

To keep the festive fun going, the hotel will also host a Christmas party for younger ones in the cinema and full afternoon tea available from 3.00pm in the lounges.

Pre-dinner drinks and a festive dinner will be available for grown ups to enjoy to finish off Boxing Day in style.

Christmas packages start from just £1,677 per room for a three-night dinner, bed and breakfast break with all the trimmings.

It really will be the season to be jolly; from the afternoon tea, mulled wine and carol singing on Christmas Eve afternoon; to the candlelit dinner for parents while the kids are enjoying a festive movie.

After Santa has delivered his presents, it will be time for a Bellini breakfast. Prosecco and canapés will be served pre-Christmas lunch and a magic show will stave off that post lunch snooze (temporarily at least).

The plucky participants of the Boxing Day swim at Poldhu Cove can be seen just a short walk from the hotel and after a breath of fresh air guests can return for delicious Cornish pasties and kids entertainment. The final night can be savoured by parents as the children will enjoy high tea followed by a festive movie. Prices start from just £715 per room, for a two-night package.
