Family Friendly Summer Activities in Lincoln

Visit Lincoln

From a week away or just for a daycation, Lincoln is the perfect family-friendly destination this summer. Lincoln offers many quirky ways to explore the city which are perfect for a family day out. See the iconic Cathedral from the top deck of a bus tour, or perhaps whilst hunting for a trail of imp sculptures around the city centre. With a host of outdoor activities to ease visitors into the city after months of social distancing, Lincoln is ideal for those who are slightly more cautious about travelling.

The Lincoln Imp Trail – until 8th September

Explore the historic sights of Lincoln’s centre by following a trail of 30 colourful imp sculptures. Created by a mix of amateur and professional artists from Lincoln and beyond, the Imp Trail offers visitors an interactive way to sight-see. The self-guided, outdoor tour allows families to discover Lincoln at their own pace, taking time along the way to visit key sites of the heritage city.

The sculpture trail will run throughout the summer until 8th September 2021 across Lincoln's city centre and highlights the historic city in all its glory. The imps will gather for their goodbye event at Lincoln Castle before being auctioned to raise money for St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice on 1st October 2021 at Lincoln Cathedral. Refresh Lincoln – until 4th September

Explore a city-wide installation that shares words from young residents of Lincoln. Inspired by the frustrations of lockdown, local young people have created work that depicts their feelings of isolation. Earlier in the year, Zest Theatre led 34 workshops with over 800 young people aged between 9 – 21, creating a space for them to reflect upon the last year. The workshops have resulted in over 600 quotes demonstrating their ideas. The quotes have been transformed into 80 vibrant works of art, found across Lincoln’s city centre. Refresh Lincoln is a celebration of youthful creativity found in the city’s young people.

Refresh Lincoln runs until 4th September. For more information, please visit: https://www.visitlincoln.com/whats-on/refresh-lincoln
