Luxury Family Hotels, the pioneers of luxury family breaks in the UK, is encouraging families to enjoy new adventures together this New Year.

Here are just some of the adventures guests large and small can enjoy as part of a Luxury Family Hotels' experience: 

·         The Forest School at Moonfleet Manor will be a school that kids really will want to attend! Young adventurers explore the woodland behind the hotel and take part in wild activities including bug hunting, toasting marshmallows and den building. The four hour supervised sessions are charged at £10 per child (8 years+).

·         Go wild in the 1,800 acres of National Trust parkland at The Ickworth hotel.  Spot deer and birds, climb trees and make mud pies! There are plenty of family adventures to be had on foot, bike (borrow one of the hotel's) or scooter!  There's also an adventure playground with a zip wire, slides, small maze and swings amongst other activities, or build a den in the Albana walk (a wooded area with stunning views). There's no need to get into a car, it's all on the doorstep.

·         Guests at Fowey Hall Hotel can take a 45-minute glass-bottom boat trip that goes around Looe Island to see the caves, sea birds and the chance to spot a seal or two. This is an opportunity for the whole family to get up close to the wildlife in our waters. 


·         Fossil hunting takes place along the shores of the fleet with a palaeontologist (and Moonfleet Manor resident gardener) Andrew Lawrence who talks about the history of the Jurassic coast and helps the kids hunt. 99% of hunters find a fossil to keep!

·         Get on your bike and have a forest adventure: The new bikes at New Park Manor are ideal for family adventures on the many trails that can be accessed from the front door.  Families can go on a scavenger hunt searching the ancient oak trees, there are streams to paddle in and rope swings to climb.  The hotel provides maps, helmets and even puncture repair kits!  The whole family is catered for with bike seats, tag-along bikes and even a trailer for guests to use.

·         Have a canal experience: The historic market town Bradford on Avon is only a 15-minute walk from Woolley Grange Hotel where you can hire bikes, canoes or a narrow boat and pedal, row or putter along the scenic canal towards Bath (10 miles away). Adventurers can replenish their energy stocks with a picnic from the hotel or enjoy one of the cafes or pubs along the way.

·         There is also horse riding at Widbrook (just up the road from Woolley Grange), great walks in the countryside and the beautiful parks of Bath…try beautiful Prior Park with its magnificent Palladian bridge, on the edge of Bath and only 15 minutes from the hotel.

·         Surf's up: guests staying at Polurrian Bay hotel can take advantage of surfing lessons with champion surfer Dan Joel.  With 20 years' experience, he teaches at Poldhu Beach at £25 per lesson with all equipment included.

·         Be a keeper for the day: take advantage of the VIP experiences at the Safari Park close to The Elms and get up close and personal with the animals, feed giraffes and leopards, meet the lemurs and be a Keeper for the Day. http://www.wmsp.co.uk/vip-experiences/

For the smaller VILP (very important little people) there's Floppy, a 20ft beanbag bunny for them to jump and hop around on!

Each of Luxury Family Hotels (apart from Thornbury Castle) organises daily craft sessions in its Ofsted-registered crèches (The Den). The Den is also open to parents to come along and play with their children outside of the booked session times.

With books, games and toys provided for children of all ages, swimming pools, DVDs to borrow as well as two hours free childcare each day in the Ofsted-registered crèche, rainy days are still guaranteed to be action-packed.
