The FAM/ Press Trip itinerary will cover the following highlights:

ESSENTIAL SOUTH ICELAND 3 DAY, 2 NIGHT PRIVATE TOUR

Day 1 of 3 | South Coast Sights, Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, Fjaðrárgljúfur

Our guide will pick you up from your Reykjavik accommodation to embark on our adventure to explore the entire south coast of Iceland. We visit Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls before taking a walk on the black beach of Reynisfjara where we also have lunch. We continue our drive further east where we'll soon start to see the spectacular glaciers and Iceland's highest mountains. We hike along the ridges of the gorge with the impossible name, Fjaðrárgljúfur, before coming into our accommodation for the night at Lilja Guesthouse. We have dinner in their restaurant which showcases traditional Icelandic dishes. In the summer you get the magnificent midnight sun and views with the golden light over the nearby mountains and glaciers.

Day 2 of 3 | Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, Diamond Beach and Glacier Hike

After a good night's rest and breakfast we set off on another amazing day. We take the short drive to visit Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon first thing in the morning whilst the sun comes up and watch the giant icebergs float around and wash up on the black sand shores of Diamond Beach, glistening on the sand. From here we make our way west to do the glacier hike on Falljökull glacier. Depending on the group we will explore all the way up to the astonishing ice fall of the glacier discovering the glacier textures, features and walk on the bottom of its crevasses. It's truly a unique experience. The glacier hike is about 4 hours in total from the time we leave the car geared up with the necessary glacier equipment until we'll be driving away from the glacier. For more information on the glacier hike you can read our blog post here. We'll have a late lunch at Systrakaffi in the town of Kirkjubæjarklaustur on our way to the accommodation at Hotel Vos where you'll stay in their superior room for the night. We'll have dinner in their restaurant once you have settled into your room and refreshed after a long day of exploring the magnificent glacier landscapes that we have here in Iceland.

Day 3 of 3 | Golden Circle, Secret Lagoon, Friðheimar Tomato Farm, Gullfoss, Geysir, Þingvellir National Park

We depart our comfortable South Iceland accommodation after breakfast and head straight to warm up and soak in the natural hot springs of the Secret Lagoon, Iceland's oldest natural swimming pool. We will be there early, when it is quietest, allowing us to truly relax and soak in the magic of this wonderful geothermal pool. Afterwards, we will enjoy a unique lunch inside the tomato greenhouse farm Friðheimar. Having lunch amongst all the tomato plants in the greenhouse is something we are sure you will never forget. Next we get to witness the force of Gullfoss, one of Iceland's most powerful waterfalls. From there, it is only a short drive to see the wonders of the geothermal area of Geysir, the original exploding geyser, and its surrounding steam vents. After all this we drive onto the famous Þingvellir National Park which holds historical and geological significance being the site of the first known parliament in the world, where many of Iceland's most important decisions were made. It is also a place of incredible beauty, sitting in the rift valley of the separating North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. From there, it's a short drive back into town, reaching Reykjavik in time for dinner in the city.
