Exploring by Submarine the Latest Diversion, Included at Laucala Island

Laucala Island, Fiji

Leisure facilities available at luxurious Laucala Island, in the north-east of the Fiji archipelago, now include being able to explore the magical underwater world surrounding in a DeepFlight Super Falcon submersible.

The island is home to one of just three such submarines in the world, and the presence of this Hawkes Ocean Technologies' DeepFlight Super Falcon offers the most amazing, unforgettable and safe underwater adventure for guests.

A part of Laucala's all-inclusive rates, an excursion from 45 minutes to an hour with a pilot on board the two-person submersible, from the main beach to Black Rock within the inner reef area of Laucala, allows the guest to explore clear aquamarine waters without getting wet.  Designed for comfort and 360 degree viewing from acrylic domes, the submarine allows you to just sit back and relax, whilst observing magnificent coral reefs, an abundance of vivid tropical fish, turtles, barracuda and sharks.

“The waters surrounding Laucala Island are stunningly beautiful and we are delighted that our guests now have the opportunity to explore them in a different way,” highlights Andrew Thomson, General Manager.

Laucala Island offers the most exclusive and authentic tropical resort experience in the South Pacific - and the world, and the submersible now adds to the wide selection of all-inclusive activities available from golf on an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Scotsman David McLay Kidd, a 90-minute holistic health/well-being treatment at the tropically designed spa per guest (for all guests over 7 years old), horse riding on pristine beaches, snorkelling around the island, scuba diving at nine dive sites within the inner reef, sailing on catamarans and sailboats, tennis, exploring on mountain bikes, fitness sessions at the fully equipped gym, sunset cruises aboard sailing boats.

About Laucala Island

Laucala Island is owned by Dietrich Mateschitz, C.E.O. of the Red Bull drink company.  The resort is 85 percent self-sustainable and prides itself on an integral philosophy, incorporating elements of the entire island into each guest's experience, from island-made spa products, to cuisine derived from indigenous plants, fruit and aquatic life.

Encompassing 12 square kilometers in the Fiji archipelago in the South Pacific, it has just 25 beautifully designed villas with interiors by leading UK based designer Lynne Hunt - scattered amidst the palms, set on the edge of sugar white beaches and turquoise lagoons, and atop lush green mountains.

The island features five exclusive restaurants and bars overseen by leading Australian chef, Anthony Healy, offering a superb choice of Western, Asian and local cuisines, complemented by a wide selection of fine wines.  Most of the ingredients for various dishes are sourced from the island's own organic farm and herb and vegetable gardens.

Laucala's all-inclusive rates encompassing all meals including premium wines and champagne, leisure diversions, start at US$4,600 per night for two, in a one-bedroom Plantation, Seagrass or Plateau Villa.
