With school very nearly out for summer, there's still time to book a last-minute break to Scandinavia with two brand new family-friendly trips featured by Taber Holidays.
The first, 'A Friendly City and a Floating Hotel' is perfect for those who want to unwind, enjoy Sweden's beautiful scenery and experience a relaxing, slow-paced holiday. Combining the stunning Bohuslän Coast with Sweden's friendliest city Gothenburg, four nights are spent at the country's first floating hotel, Salt and Sill, which can be found on the small island of Klädesholmen, connected to the mainland by a road bridge. Overlooking Bohuslän's outer archipelago it consists of two six-storey houses built on floating pontoons. From here it is easy to pay a visit to Nordens Ark, a private, non-profit foundation set up to give endangered animals a future through breeding, research and education. The park is home to some 80 species of animal including snow leopards, Amur tigers, wolves and lynx and is a great day out.
No visit to West Sweden is complete without a couple of days in Gothenburg and Taber Holidays have included a free city card for the family. This gives free and discounted entrance to a number of attractions and unlimited travel on public transport in Gothenburg. It is also home to Sweden's oldest amusement park, Liseberg, where all those young at heart are promised fantastic family fun.
Prices start at £1,214pp and include flights from London Heathrow to Gothenburg, car hire for four days, and seven nights accommodation (four at Salt and Sill in Klädesholmen and three in Gothenburg) including breakfast. It is also possible to stay an extra night at Nordens Ark (£75pp including park entrance and breakfast). Based on two sharing. Departs daily from now until 31 August.
For those families wanting more of an adventure-based break, then the new 'Family Viking Challenge' in Reykjavik, Iceland is the perfect solution.
Jam-packed with thrilling activities suitable for all the family, this seven-night trip features horse riding through the lava fields, a whale watching cruise and cycling to the lighthouse on the Seltjarnarnes Peninsula. Free time is built in to explore Iceland's fascinating capital and to help ease any aching muscles, entrance to the relaxing Blue Lagoon is also included.
One of the highlights of the trip is a visit to the famous geothermal area where not only will you see the mighty geysers erupt but you will get the chance to boil an egg in one of the hot springs and taste some bread baked in the hot earth.
Prices start from £2,070per adult and £680 per child (age 6-11) and include flights from London Heathrow, transfers, seven nights accommodation, breakfast all tours and activities as mentioned and a Reykjavik Card. Based on four sharing. Daily departures are available from now until 31 August 2014. Regional departures from Manchester and Glasgow are also possible.
