Bike Park Wales

BikePark Wales has launched an all-new mountain bike experience for beginner riders at its purpose-built resort in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons.

The new package is the perfect way to celebrate the easing of lockdown this summer, and it's ideal for families and novice mountain bikers looking for a fun introduction to the sport.

As well as your personal guide, they'll provide you with everything you need including bikes and all the kit, plus lifts back to the top of the hill.

Located in the beautiful Gethin forest, BikePark Wales is home to the UK's greatest and most diverse selection of all-weather mountain bike trails.

The concept is simple – picture a ski resort, remove the snow and replace the pistes with an array of sweeping bike trails meandering to the bottom of the slopes.

If you've never been mountain biking before, this is the ideal introduction, with hosted ride experiences on BikePark Wales' new five-kilometre-long beginner mountain bike trail – the longest in the UK.

The green 'Kermit' trail delivers all the thrills and exhilaration of gravity mountain biking, with bermed corners, rock slabs, roller coaster sections and exhilarating tree-lined flow sections.

The trail's unique design ensures bike speed can always be controlled, making it the perfect introduction to the world of mountain biking.

Lasting for 3.5 hours, the hosted sessions will be led by a highly-experienced mountain bike guide who will introduce you to the sport, provide tips and advice, assist with getting kitted up and guide you through your ride on the mountain.

Guided 'Ticket to ride' sessions cost £65 for children and £80 for adults.

“Our hosted rides are the perfect introduction to the exhilarating world of mountain biking. We can't wait to start welcoming back riders to our trails this summer for a new biking adventure,” said BikePark Wales Founder and Director Martin Astley.

“The Kermit trail offers an awesome introduction to gravity mountain biking in a stunning location. There's nothing like it anywhere else in the UK and it's a unique way for beginners and families to enjoy their first taste of this fun sport in a safe and controlled manner. The bus uplift means you can do as many runs as you want.

“Our friendly hosts are hugely experienced and will be on hand throughout offering tips and advice to ensure you make the most of your day out,” he added.

With a vehicular uplift service to transport riders to the top of the trails, bike and equipment hire, coaching, guiding and on-site café, BikePark Wales has everything you need for an incredible day on the mountain – suitable for all levels, from beginners to pro mountain bikers.
