Experience Macau at New York's Grand Central Terminal

NEW YORK, September 30, 2015: Announcing Experience Macau, the first-ever interactive Macau event at Grand Central Terminal in New York City. The event will take place from October 1-4, 2015 and is hosted by the Macau Government Tourist Office.

Experience Macau is an event aimed at promoting the ancient and modern wonders, tastes, and sounds that make Macau a spectacular and unique destination for locals and tourists alike.

This four-day showcase of the heritage, history, and cuisine of Macau, China will take place in Vanderbilt Hall and is open to the public as follows:

 

Thursday, October 1: 12.00 pm - 7.00 pm

Friday, October 2: 8.00 am - 7.00 pm

Saturday, October 3: 9.00 am – 6.00 pm

Sunday, October 4: 9.00 am - 4.00 pm

 

Visitors at Experience Macau will learn about this modern and historically significant city through scenic displays representing some of Macau's UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which will include the facades of the Ruins of St. Paul's, St. Dominic's Church, A-Ma Temple, and Dom Pedro V Theater. A prominent re-creation of Macau's famous black and white Senado Square stones will decorate the main area of Vanderbilt Hall and serve as the stage for performances.   

 

Highlights of the event will include daily traditional performances of dragon dancers along with Macanese drummers that will entertain visitors below a canopy of Macanese and Portuguese lanterns.

 

Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in various activity booths including:

  • Portuguese Tile Workshops - Visitors can create their own traditional azulejos

  • Chinese Paper Cutting - Demonstration of an ancient art

  • Chinese Lantern Decorating - Decorate your own keepsake lantern

  • Macanese Art Gallery - Showcase of the work of the American artists and photographers who visited Macau in 2013

  • The Market - Sampling of authentic Macanese cookies

  • Photobooth - Guests will take photos against a backdrop of a Macau city scene, wearing traditional Macanese dress

5:30 pm-6.00 pm Performance: Lion Dancers

 

Saturday, October 3

Open to the public 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

12:00 pm Performance: Dragon Dancers

2:00 pm Performance: Macanese Drummers

 

Sunday, October 4

Open to the public 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

12:00 pm Performance: Lion Dancers

2.00 pm Performance: Portuguese Dancers
