Independent tour operator, Pettitts, have created a unique, small group tour focused on discovering some of India's best kept secrets, in the company of one of its outstanding authorities, John Keay.
To the Mughals as to the British, India's greatest prize lay in its eastern provinces of Bengal and Awadh. For 'fertility, wealth and beauty' they were described as 'unrivalled anywhere in the world'. Today's hi-tech India may have passed them by, but the monuments and capitals of India's opulent orient evoke a bygone age of breathtaking splendour.
Highlights of the tour include rarely visited Jaunpur, the showpiece capital of the pre-Munghal Sharqi 'Kings of the East', then an extended stay among the post-Munghal splendours of imperial Lucknow, and finally an exploration of the superb Buddhist and Hindu sites of coastal Odisha – plus of course all the better-known wonders of Varanasi, Kolkata and Delhi. All these experiences take place under the expert advice and guidance of John Keay, to ensure that the tour will leave lasting memories.
Steven Pettitt, Founder and Managing Director of Pettitts says:
“John Keay is a great friend of ours and his knowledge and passion of India is second to none. This small group tour is perfect for anyone who wishes to immerse themselves in the Indian culture and come away inspired, and with a better understanding of the country. There is also the invaluable opportunity to ask questions and find out more from John, who has written over 10 books on India. Here at Pettitts, we believe in creating memories for our clients, and this tour promises to do just that.”
The small group tour is 16 days in total and departs on 6th March 2018. The cost is from £4390 per person which includes international flights, internal flights, hotel accommodation, all specified meals as well as sightseeing and entrance fees.
