Swoop Antarctica, leading travel specialist to this unique destination, is now taking bookings for the 'Epic Antarctica' expedition, a 22-day voyage that covers a far reaching Antarctic Peninsula itinerary with an unprecedented 16 days spent exploring Antarctica. The voyage includes more than 30 off-ship excursions including experiencing wildlife colonies, historic sites, research stations, kayaking, hiking and even an overnight camping trip on the ice.
Now successfully in its second season of operation, the Epic Antarctica flies passengers to the Falkland Islands from Punta Arenas in Chile, before sailing down to King George Island, crossing the Antarctic Circle, visiting the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. A highlight of the voyage includes the Weddell Sea, a remote, wild and little-visited Antarctica and home to huge tabular icebergs. Elephant Island, an ice-covered mountainous island off the coast of Antarctica and famously the refuge of Shackleton and his crew in 1916 following the loss of their ship Endurance in Weddell Sea ice, is also on the itinerary.
