'Five Rivers' is a special, discounted tailor-made safari circuit enabling clients to experience the Okavango Delta at a fraction of the usual cost while still enjoying the superb lodges, guiding and wildlife that the Delta is rightly known for.
Often released in March annually, the discounted Five Rivers rates are valid for travel between 15 November and 31 March the following year.
It's not too late to take advantage of the discounted rates; Real Africa reports that while November is already very busy, there is still space available between December and March.
Five reasons why Five Rivers is a great choice for travellers on a budget
1.CHOICE OF SUPERB CAMPS
Guests can experience a bespoke combination of eight unique camps: Kwando Kwara and Pom Pom in the Okavango Delta itself, Kwando Lagoon and Kwando Lebala Camps in the Linyanti wetlands, Tau Pan in the Kalahari, Nxai Pan in Nxai Pan National Park and Stanley's Safari Lodge and Elephant Camp at Victoria Falls.
2.FANTASTIC GAME VIEWING WITH YOUNG BEING BORN
The Emerald Season is a time of plenty in southern Africa. The rains, which tend to fall in the afternoons, go hand in hand with a lush landscape, studded with flowers, while healthy fat animals are very active and bringing young into the world. This makes for exciting game viewing opportunities.
3.MIGRANT BIRDS ARRIVE IN THEIR THOUSANDS
Migrant bird species arrive in their thousands during this time, with many species being spotted around the lodges including Pel's Fishing Owl, carmine bee eaters and martial eagles. For birding, this is the best time to be in Botswana.
4.COST
The Delta is far quieter and more affordable at this time when compared to the peak dry season (May-September) when lodges operate at maximum capacity. Real Africa is offering a 9 day itinerary for £3095 per person including international flights, staying at Kwando Camps throughout. In high season the same itinerary can exceed £6000.
5.PHOTOGRAPHY
Puffy rain clouds on the horizon make for spectacular image making, while lightning and rainbows during afternoon downpours add to the drama. The landscape is lush and vibrant and at its most beautiful. Baby animals and birds are in abundance.
