Set in the heart of the Northumberland countryside with extensive private gardens sweeping down to the banks of the River Tyne, Close House Hotel in Northumberland makes an enchanting setting for exclusive use weddings. For couples looking to enjoy complete privacy and seclusion, this 18th century mansion offers the service of a four star hotel alongside the exclusivity and grandeur of a stately home.
Exclusive use of Close House allows wedding parties to enjoy the hotel's stunning public rooms such as the Champagne Bar and the opulent Argent D'Or restaurant without intrusion or interruption. Guests can also take over each of the 31 bedrooms, including the 12 romantic Courtyard Suites, each with its own ensuite bathroom with huge tubs and rainfall showers.
On the day before the wedding, guests can enjoy a round of golf on one of Close House's two 18-hole courses or practise their swing in the dedicated Golf Academy. The championship Colt course spans 160 acres of the Tyne Valley and was opened by champion Lee Westwood in May 2011.
Those wishing to relax and indulge in preparation for the big day can sample one of the Close House's famous Afternoon Teas, to be enjoyed either in the cosy lounge or out on the terrace. A selection of mouth-watering sandwiches, freshly baked cakes and light scones with clotted cream are complimented by either a traditional English tea or a glass of champagne. Stunning silverware and fine china make this everyday treat an extraordinary experience.
Wedding celebrations can take place in a variety of settings in and around Close House, including Argent D'Or with French doors to the gardens, the Venetian room for more intimate ceremonies, or the romantic Orangery with views across the East Lawn, where marquees can be erected for larger parties. Clubhouse No 19 with its panoramic views across over the Tyne Valley, lit terrace and private bar makes the perfect place to party into the night.
The hotel's 400 acres of private grounds and gardens provide endless opportunity for wedding photography. The venue's Executive Chef Simon Walsh and his talented brigade create delicious, bespoke menus using only the freshest local and seasonal ingredients.
