South Australia is gearing up for one of its largest festival and event seasons ever with the launch of the $1.1 million Eventful Adelaide campaign.
Promoting a host of internationally acclaimed sporting and arts events in South Australia early next year, the campaign aims to boost the number of visitors to the state.
Adelaide is the place to be from 1 January to 31 March, says Tourism Minister Jane Lomax-Smith.
From the high-adrenaline racing of Jacobs Creek Tour Down Under and Clipsal 500 Adelaide, to the creative artist festival of the Adelaide Festival of Arts and WOMADelaide, Eventful Adelaide has something for everyone.
No other Australian city can boast the range or calibre of events of South Australia during this time. The whole city will buzz with excitement as we welcome some of the worlds best performers, artists and sports people to Adelaide.
Cultural events include the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts and WOMADelaide while sporting fans will be in their element with the Next Generation Adelaide International Tennis, Jacobs Creek Tour Down Under, VB Series One-Day International Cricket Matches & Final, Jacobs Creek Open Golf Championship and Adelaide Cup Carnival.
In addition, regional South Australia will not miss out, hosting a range of events such as Barossa Under the Stars, Rivafest 2006 and Port Lincoln Cup Carnival.
The campaign includes a 24-page brochure inserted into the Weekend Australian, Sydney Morning Herald, Melbourne Age, Adelaide Advertiser and NZ Herald, while television advertisements will run in South Australia.
South Australia has long been known as the Festival State and Eventful Adelaide will further cement our reputation as the events capital of Australia, Minister Lomax-Smith says.
It will be an amazing three months and I urge all Australians to join the party.
Eventful Adelaide is a joint project between Thoroughbred Racing SA, Clipsal 500, Department for Trade and Economic Development, Arts SA and the South Australian Tourism Commission.
