Event Hotels and Resorts reaffirmed its position as a leading force in Australia's tourism industry with its QT, Rydges and Atura Hotels properties securing several prestigious awards and commendations at the 2016 Tourism Accommodation Australia (NSW) Awards for Excellence on Thursday night.
Western Sydney's Atura Blacktown and Rydges Parramatta were stand out performers on the night; Atura Blacktown won the awards for Best Brasserie/Café for Roadhouse Bar and Grill and Best Mid-Range Hotel. It is the third year running that urban, industrial and design-inspired Atura Hotels have received the Best Mid-Range Hotel award. Rydges Parramatta secured the award for Metropolitan Restaurant of the Year in the Mid-Range – Superior Hotel category with their stunningly refurbished Steeds Club Grill & Bar.
QT Sydney achieved 'Highly Commended' recognition in the Sydney Deluxe Hotel of the Year category against some tough competition whilst in Sydney's East, QT Bondi was 'Highly Commended' in the category Apartment/Suite Hotel of the Year capping off an excellent first half year for Event Hotels and Resort's luxury, design-driven QT Hotels and Resorts brand.
Further north, Event's spectacularly renovated Rydges Port Macquarie property received the Regional Bar of the Year award for the new Zebu Bar + Grill. The property is undergoing a dramatic transformation to a luxurious Hampton-esque seaside resort.
Adding to the group's success on the night included several Event staff deservedly receiving awards for excellence in service including:
- Kathryn Fleming, Atura Blacktown for Marketing & Sales Employee of the Year
- Olivia Lauren Sy, Rydges World Square was highly commended for Hotel Industry Rising Star.
- David Thompson, Rydges Sydney Central was highly commended for Food & Beverage Employee of the Year.
