Taiwan's leading independent airline, EVA Air, has opened the registration for its second annual half marathon, which is set to take place on October 27th 2019 in Taipei. Once again, the EVA Air running event will offer up to 20,000 runners the chance to discover Taipei as they compete in the 21.09km, 10km or 3km races.
Beginning outside Taipei's Presidential Office plaza at 5:20am*, the half marathon and 10km courses offer competitors the chance to enjoy Taipei's scenery as they run past some of the city's most famous sights, including the Memorial Hall, National Theatre and East Gate, before crossing the finish line in Dajia Riverside park.
Runners entering the half marathon will be divided into 12 groups according to age and gender, with the fastest eligible male and female Half Marathon runners winning NT$ 30,000** (approximately £749*). Other prizes are awarded for various categories, including the top ten fastest male and female half marathon runners and the top five fastest male and female competitors in the 10km race.
On completion of the 21.09km race, runners will receive a medal and electronic certificate to commemorate their achievement, as well as a towel and storage bag. All those completing the half marathon, 10km and 3km races will be entered into a sweepstake to win EVA Air flight tickets to a variety of destinations.
Clay Sun, EVA Air President, said: “2018 saw over 18,000 runners from across the globe compete in the first ever EVA Air Half Marathon event in Taipei. We're delighted to be offering runners worldwide the opportunity to explore Taipei in a different way and hope this event continues to encourage travellers to visit Taiwan and enjoy all that it has to offer.”
