EVA Air, Taiwan's leading independent airline, saw its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner take its maiden flight from Hong Kong to Taipei on November 1 2018. The airline celebrated the milestone with a special launch event at Taoyuan International Airport, Taipei. Passengers on the inaugural flight were invited to take selfies and keepsake photos in front of a Dreamliner-themed banner and share smiles with family and social media friends before boarding the brand-new aircraft.

To help passengers commemorate their journey aboard the Dreamliner's maiden voyage, EVA Air created a special departure lounge banner, built around its new commercial film, “The Smile in the Sky,” and gave passengers Dreamliner-themed signs to include in photos with travel companions.

The carrier followed up by inviting passengers to share their smiling images for a photo montage featuring the Dreamliner flying in the sky.

EVA Air President Clay Sun said: “The addition of Boeing 787 Dreamliners equips us to expand EVA Air's service capacity and gives us more flexibility in fleet deployment. Our new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner has a maximum full-load range of 7,100 nautical miles and is configured for 304 passengers in two cabins, 26 in Royal Laurel Class business and 278 in Economy.”

“To begin with, we are deploying our first Dreamliner on our busy Taipei – Hong Kong route.  Our second Boeing 787-9 has just been delivered and will soon join the Taipei – Hong Kong service, too.  In December, EVA Air use the second Dreamliner to extend the plane's services to Osaka and Tokyo, making it available to more of our passengers.” 

EVA Air also initiated a special offer for its frequent flyer programme members, allowing them to get one-way Taipei-Hong Kong or Taipei-Macau tickets by redeeming only 7,870 miles.
