EVA Air, Taiwan's leading independent airline, and Air New Zealand have initiated a code-share agreement to expand the airlines' networks in North-East Asia and Oceania.

Passengers of the two Star Alliance member airlines will have access to code-share options operated by EVA Air from Taipei to major destinations in Japan and South Korea. Passengers will also have code-share options from Taipei to Auckland and onto major cities in New Zealand, as well as Brisbane to Auckland and Christchurch, with flights operated by Air New Zealand. From the second half of December 2018, passengers will be able to travel on the code-share flights.

EVA Air Executive Vice President of corporate Planning division, Albert Liao said: “The new code-share agreement will further strengthen Star Alliance's flight network and offer passengers enhanced options to plan both business and leisure itineraries from Taiwan and New Zealand. With just one easy stop in Taipei, passengers can take advantage of EVA Air's flexible flight schedule to conveniently fly onward to Japan and South Korea.”

Air New Zealand Chief network Strategy and Alliances Officer, Nick Judd, said “Air New Zealand is excited to be working closely with EVA Air, an airline well-respected in the market for its aircraft and customer offering. This agreement with EVA Air will leverage the strengths of each airline's network, ultimately making travel easier and more convenient for customers.”

The Star Alliance network currently offers over 18,800 daily flights to 1,317 airports in 193 countries. Since joining Star Alliance in 2013, EVA Air has steadily increased passenger benefits and enhanced convenience by working with 18 partner airlines, including Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines and Air Canada, extending to extend routes, increase frequency and offer travellers seamless services to destinations around the world.
