EVA AIR ADDS MORE CONNECTIONS TO CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA THROUGH AVIANCA CODE-SHARE
Code share initiation will add greater convenience and connections to the region
EVA Air, Taiwan's leading independent airline and the newest addition to SKYTRAX's elite group of 5-Star carriers, has announced the initiation of a code-share agreement with fellow Star Alliance member, Avianca, making travel between Asia and Central America much more convenient for both the airlines' passengers. Effective as of 17 August, the new code-share agreement will enable EVA Air's passengers to connect through Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco to connect with Avianca flights to San Salvador, whilst Avianca's passengers will be able to connect through the same US airports for flights to Taipei.
EVA Air will now be able to offer its passengers multiple itinerary choices for flying to the region of Central and South America, where Avianca is the primary Star Alliance operator of flights. Passengers can now connect on nearly 20 flights a week to San Salvador, which can be reached from Taipei, via the United States, in approximately 20 hours, including transit time. Taiwan's leading airline is constantly striving to give its passengers increased convenience and flexibility and will continue to evaluate the feasibility of flying to other major cities in the Central and South America region.
El Salvador and Taiwan have close diplomatic ties. The Central American nation, described by Lonely Planet as 'one of the world's best tourist destinations', offers a beautiful, natural environment and rich tourism resources with rolling hills and a magnificent volcano. Lake Coatepeque is a scenic setting for travellers who enjoy diving, canoeing and water sports, whilst the capital city, San Salvador, is a political, cultural and financial centre with modern shopping and charming streets lined with historic buildings, including the grand Metropolitan Cathedral and National Palace.
Since joining the Star Alliance in June 2013, EVA Air has steadily increased passenger benefits and conveniences through cooperation with member airlines, offering services to more than 190 countries and more than 1,300 destinations. In addition to Avianca, EVA Air has code-share relationships with Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, United Airlines and 10 more airlines, extending routes and increasing frequency to give passengers seamless services to every corner of the world.
