The prestigious European Senior Club Tennis Championship is to return to La Manga Club for three years after the Spanish resort finalised a new agreement that will strengthen its position at the forefront of the global tennis resort market.
Organised by Tennis Europe (the European Tennis Federation, which unites 50 countries from across Europe and organizes more than 1,200 annual events), the event brings together club champions and runners-up from the top tennis-playing nations all across Europe.
This year's tournament will take place from September 9-22, with the best amateur tennis players on the continent heading to La Manga Club to compete in two different categories – the Super Seniors, from September 9-14; and the Seniors, from September 17-22.
The agreement, which will run until 2020, is the second major tennis partnership that the resort has signed in the last two months after the resort agreed a deal to become an official sponsor of The Tennis Podcast – one of the game's most exciting and innovative new media outlets which has been downloaded more than five million times since its launch in 2012.
The tournament is just one of a number of leading international tennis events that will take place at La Manga Club in 2018, including the 7th La Manga Club Tennis Cup from June 24-29 and the annual International Tennis Federation Open Grade One Tournament from November 26 to December 2.
Enjoying an average of more than 300 days' sunshine a year, the award-winning resort – which recently celebrated its 45th anniversary – offers the perfect destination for professionals and amateurs to work on all aspects of their technique under sunny skies at the venue's world-class 28-court tennis centre.
The official overseas training base of the Lawn Tennis Association, La Manga Club's extensive other facilities include three 18-hole golf courses and a Golf Training Centre, a High Performance Sports Centre and 2,000m² Wellness Centre. There is also a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 15 bars and restaurants.
