When visiting Edinburgh this summer, either on holiday with the family or when attending one of the city's numerous festivals, take the time to escape the hustle and bustle and a see a different side of Scotland with a stay at The Roxburghe.

Ideally situated for those travelling from the South, The Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course is a gorgeous 22-bedroom country house hotel located in Kelso in the beautiful rolling hills of the Scottish Borders. Part of the Roxburghe Estate, the hotel is a country house gem with fourposter beds and log fires in some of the bedrooms.  The hotel offers shooting, fishing and outdoor pursuits, and many guests enjoy tuition, either in shooting or fishing, from the hotel's own Ghillie. There are also gorgeous rambling walks, a Championship golf course and luxurious treatments in the Beauty Suite, and Floors Castle, home to the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe, is located just on the other side of the Estate.

The food is of the highest quality and Head Chef Gordon Campbell and his team create wonderful meals by foraging on the Estate and using the best of local produce, with seasonal menus and a Chef's Tasting Menu for special guests.  Afternoon Tea is a real experience with the pastry chef creating delicious treats including raspberry macaroons, passion fruit delice and homemade scones, plus locally smoked salmon sandwiches. 

The public rooms were recently refurbished using Isle of Bute tweeds and Scottish textiles and there are comfortable sofas, beautiful views across the lawns and lots of roaring fires to sit beside with a dram of whisky or Afternoon Tea.

The hotel is a lovely comfortable retreat and is a genuine labour of love by owners the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe. It is their personal touches on everything from the furnishings, books and paintings from the Duke's own home, to his hand on the wine list, golf experience and country pursuits that make the Roxburghe so special.
