Skyscanner unveils destinations soaring in temperature but dropping in price¹

For those looking to escape the cold British weather the travel experts at Skyscanner have been busy crunching their extensive flight data to uncover some great value destinations where the temperatures are soaring, but prices are dropping¹. From the sun-drenched beaches of Hurghada (Egypt), to the bustling bars and world-class food scene of Phnom Penh (Cambodia), there's a great mix of destinations offering up some fantastic savings on flights prices. Whilst Hurghada leads the way with a 23% saving in November, South America is dominating the charts with Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires featuring most months and with savings up to 18%.

Rachelle Garnham from Skyscanner comments: “As we head into winter we begin to see an uplift in searches for long haul destinations³ as travellers start to seek the warmth of far off climes, therefore to help travellers enjoy the sun but also save some money, we decided to use our data insights to create our new Escape the Cold feature within our app. Looking at the data findings, South America is featuring strongly with Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires appearing as value hot spots most months. Christmas sun seekers should consider Phnom Penth in Cambodia, or if travellers are looking for something a bit closer to home then Hurghada in Egypt, renowned for its scuba diving and golden beaches is also offering great value this December.”

For traveller ease and convenience, the global travel company has used these insights to create a new 'Escape the Cold' feature on the Skyscanner app. Exclusively on the app from now until the end of the winter, the 'Escape the Cold' feature enables travellers to find top destinations over the autumn and winter months that are both dropping in flight price but have temperatures above 22 degrees².
