St. Augustine, Fla. – Spring is all about renewal, and May on Florida's Historic Coast features exciting events that entertain and educate. Experience new sounds, enjoy fresh tastes, and explore historical fun facts in St. Augustine.

St. Augustine's Romanza Festivale of Music & The Arts, May 1-17, is a two-week showcase of the finest regional and international talent. The event boasts more than 40, mostly free, performances featuring music, art, theater, comedy, dance, and heritage events. Now in its 15th year, Romanza Festivale recognizes the rich arts heritage of St. Augustine, beginning when Pedro Menendez de Aviles arrived on its shores with Spanish court musicians.

Romanza Festivale opens May 1 with “America 250,” a performance by the North Florida Women's Chorale featuring traditional American tunes, from folk dance music to rousing patriotic songs, including “America the Beautiful,” “Shenandoah,” and “Tis the Gift.” Kaleidoscope of Dance on May 11 is Romanza's celebration of everything dance. The program brings together performers from groups and studios across Northeast Florida for an evening packed with movement.

The St. Augustine Food + Wine Festival, May 6-9, is a culinary celebration highlighting local food culture through tastings, wine dinners, and master classes. Named one of Florida's Top Food and Wine Festivals by USA TODAY and its readers, this four-day festival features celebrity guest chefs, local culinary figures, and beverage experts, ready to share their gastronomic experience.

Signature events include The Saltworks Supper on May 6, presented in partnership with Garden & Gun Magazine, a coastal dinner experience inspired by St. Augustine's maritime heritage and prepared by Chef Michael Lugo of St. Augustine's Michaels and Chef Jason Stanhope of Charleston, South Carolina's Sullivan's Fish Camp. The Grand Tasting on May 9 is a culinary showcase featuring more than 300 wines, beers, and spirits; bites from top regional restaurants and food trucks; live chef demonstrations; and interactive experiences.

The St. Augustine History Festival, May 6-10, celebrates the rich history of the Nation's Oldest City, from its founding in 1565 to the present day, and every period in between. The St. Augustine History Festival was created by the University of Florida Historic St. Augustine, Inc. to generate excitement and showcase the city's history. The festival features special events and notable landmarks, such as historic houses of worship, gardens, and cemeteries. This year, the festival also highlights the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and St. Augustine's role in the American Revolution.

The Governor's House Cultural Center & Museum is presenting the grand opening of a new exhibit designed just for this year's festival. Florida at War: St. Augustine in the American Revolution was curated by local historians and faculty from the University of Florida and the University of South Florida. On May 9, the armies of Spain and England will battle for possession of St. Augustine during Drake's Raid, a reenactment of Sir Francis Drake's raid in 1586. The reenactment ranges through Downtown St. Augustine, beginning at the Governor's House and continuing down St. George Street to the City Gates.
