A stunning new five-kilometre-long beginners' downhill mountain bike trail in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons is running hosted ride experiences from Easter 2021
Ideal for competent bike riders looking for a first taste of off-road excitement, BikePark Wales' green trail 'Kermit' delivers all the thrills and exhilaration of downhill mountain biking with bermed corners, rock slabs, roller coaster sections and exhilarating tree-lined flow sections.
The trail's unique design ensures bike speed can always be controlled, making it the perfect introduction to the world of mountain biking.
Lasting for 3.5 hours, the rides are led by a highly-experienced mountain bike guide who will introduce you to the sport, provide tips and advice, assist with getting kitted up and guide you through your ride on the mountain.
Guided 'Ticket to ride' sessions cost £65 for children and £80 for adults.
“The hosted rides are the perfect introduction to the exhilarating world of mountain biking,” said BikePark Wales' Founder and Director Martin Astley.
“At five kilometres long, the Kermit trail offers an awesome introduction to downhill mountain biking in a stunning location.
“There's nothing like it anywhere else in the UK and it's a unique way for beginners and families to enjoy their first taste of this fun sport in a safe and controlled manner. The bus uplift means you can do as many runs as your fitness allows!”
“Our hosts are hugely experienced and will be on hand throughout offering tips and advice to ensure you make the most of your adventure,” he added.
BikePark Wales is also offering half day sessions (2hr 45mins); including bike, helmet and equipment hire plus full access to the five-kilometre Kermit trail and unlimited free bus uplift trips back to the top of the run from £56pp on Friday and £50pp at weekends (suitable for children aged eight or over).
Located in the beautiful Gethin forest, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, BikePark Wales is home to the UK's greatest and most diverse selection of all-weather mountain bike trails.
Swooping bermed runs, tight gnarly rock sections, jump trails, drop offs and the UK's longest green downhill trail. A team of professional trail builders maintain and devise new trails to ensure incredible trail conditions, whatever time of year, and something new to try with every visit.
The concept is simple, picture a ski resort, remove the snow and replace the pistes with an array of sweeping bike trails meandering to the bottom of the slopes.
With a vehicular uplift service to transport riders to the top of the trails, bike and equipment hire, coaching, guiding and a lovely on site café there is everything you need for an incredible day on the mountain suitable for beginners or pro mountain bikers.
