The Bostonian at The Langham, Hong Kong is one of the most popular places in town to dine in style. The restaurant will host a unique wine dinner with the prestigious Fontanafredda vintages from Italy on 30 September 2011, starting at 7pm.
Executive Chef Mark Bannon has designed a savoury and tempting five-course menu, to complement the five different fabulous wines. The dinner starts with seared scallop, which perfectly matches the elegant and exclusive bubbly from The Fontanafredda. The second course of langoustine and halibut tortellini is paired with a white wine, reminiscent of exotic fruits and giving a nice acidity level and long lasting aftertaste.
The Fontanafredda estate is located in the heart of Langhe, a hilly area in northern Italy. In 1878, the son of first king of Italy, Count Emanuele Alberto di Mirafiori and Fontanafredda, turned the forested land into vineyards and founded the first wine estate known as 'Mirafiori Vini Italiani'. Fontanafredda is a synonym for Barolo but is also renowned for its other great red, white and sparkling wines of Piemonte famous around the world.

Chef Mark Bannon continues to demonstrate his gastronomic flair in the third to fifth courses. A pairing of morel mushroom crusted Welsh lamb loin, and the award winning Barolo Lazzarito 1999, is the highlight of the dinner. The wine was notably awarded 92 points by Robert Parker and received 3/3 glasses by Gambero Rosso, a prominent Italian food and wine magazine.
