The Townhouse Restaurants Ltd is a venture run by Malcolm and Josie Binnie named �licensees of the year� of 2008 by the trade magazine Dram. Within two years the energetic and business-minded couple expanded their company that now includes two venues: the Boathouse in Kilsyth and the Wheelhouse in Falkirk.

The wonderful scenery of the nearby Campsie Fells makes the Boathouse�s location very appealing, moreover the proximity of the canal enhance the dining and overnight experience as well. The restaurant can cater for up to a 150 people � they can enjoy the spectacular views of the aforementioned Campsie Fells from the wooden decking balcony. At affordable prices the menu complements the modern interior, it is fresh, well-balanced and if offers dishes based mainly on fresh Scottish produce to both conventional and adventurous tastes. Some of the staples include seared scallops on Stornoway black pudding, chorizo and sun-dried tomato salsa as a starter, sea bass with mixed bean cassoulet, olives and rustic bread as a main and caramel cheesecake as a dessert. The 10 boutique rooms at the Boathouse have stunning marina views that make the overnight a truly unique experience. With its sanctuary-like surroundings and the dedicated staff this hotel is perfect for weekend-getaways and business trips. Their festive package is now available that includes a Christmas Lunch and Dinner menu as well as a special Christmas Day and Hogmanay menu.

The Falkirk Wheel constitutes the backdrop of the Wheelhouse restaurant in Falkirk. Besides the stunning panoramic views the dining experience is at least as worth checking out. The restaurant only offers the very best, fresh Scottish produce accompanied by an award-winning wine list. The menu has an impressive choice of breakfast dishes, small plates (such as grilled goats cheese; crab cakes; haggis, neeps and champ gateau), a mouth-watering steak selection and burgers and some dessert cocktails. It is clearly for those who love the traditional Scottish meals with an exciting modern edge. The Wheelhouse�s ethical standpoint is emphasized by offering only fair-trade organic coffees. Their Christmas and Hogmanay meals can be booked now, but hurry up as they are extremely popular!
