Getting this award-winning beach party started as the sun goes down are De La Soul. Formed in 1987, this trio of hip hop pioneers are known for their eclectic sampling and quirky lyrics. They helped define rap music with the album '3 Feet High and Rising', considered to be a hip hop masterpiece. Expect classics such as 'Me Myself and I', 'SayNo Go' and 'Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey)'.
Next onto the main stage will be Australian electronic outfit Empire of the Sun. Known for their theatrical costumes and impressive performances, this will be the band's first appearance in the UAE. Sandancers will be treated to a concert of tracks from their two albums 'Walking on a Dream' and 'Ice on the Dune', including the highly acclaimed singles 'Walking on a Dream', 'We Are The People' and 'Alive'.
Following Empire of the Sun is perhaps the hottest dance act of 2014, Clean Bandit. Bursting onto the music scene in the UK and US with the infectious chart-topping single 'Rather Be', the four piece band fuse classical elements with deep hypnotic house beats. Rather Be has been the song of the summer, followed by 'Extraordinary' and the more R&B inspired 'Come Over' which currently dominates Dubai's radio waves.
One of the most successful acts of the past 12 months must be Rudimental, back on the sand by extremely popular demand. They appeared at Sandance a year ago and have since emerged as festival headliners across the globe. Their energy is unstoppable and the beach once again will be bouncing to the chart topping 'Feel The Love', 'Waiting AllNight' and 'Not Giving In' off their debut album 'Home'. They were named 'Festival Band of the Year' by the BBC in 2013 and 2014 has seen a sell out tour of the UK. A second album is reportedly on the way… after Sandance of course!
Superstar DJs Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso need very little introduction. They formed two thirds of the Swedish House Mafia and individually are considered to be two of the best DJs on the planet. The pair are currently performing together as Axwell ^ Ingrosso with awe-inspiring production to showcase a vast back catalogue of dance tracks that have defined the EDM movement, from 'The World Is Mine' to 'Save The World' and 'Don't You Worry Child'. They will surely keep the beach bouncing into the early hours.
Last but by no means least are the local heroes who play alongside the big names and between bands. They include Nasimi Beach and Nobu DJ Vinyl Dave, former resident DJ at the Encore pool at the Wynne Resort in Las Vegas. Early arrivals will be treated to the soulful sunshine seounds of DJ David Craig and of course no Sandance would be completer without Marko Smokingroove, named 'Best Dubai DJ' at this year's Hype Nightlife Awards and What's On Awards.
