Video promotes Brazilian culture and welcoming nature of its people

New York, New York, March 24, 2014 – The Brazilian Tourism Board (Embratur) and the Bahian singer Ivete Sagalo joined forces and launched today a music video to promote Brazilian culture. The video, recorded during the 2014 Carnival in Salvador, showcases many Brazilian attributes, like hospitality and joy of the Brazilian people.

The video will debut online in 11 priority markets for Embratur: Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Peru, Chile, USA, Holland, France, Italy, UK and Germany. In 2012, these countries sent more than two million tourists to Brazil.

The clip includes behind the scenes footage of the singer preparations before climbing on stage and singing the new promotional jingle to carnaval revelers. The video also shows people enjoying the party and dancing to the music and aerial shots of Salvador. The 4-minute long video is part of an integrated campaign by Embratur.

The title of the song is "Encontro”, which means “Meeting” in Portuguese. According to Embratur's president, Vicente Neto, the lyrics are aligned with Brazil's promotional campaign abroad. "The song will also portray a country that is ready to welcome international tourists with open arms and will represent the warmth of the Brazilian people and cultural beauties that visitors find when they arrive in Brazil," said Vicente.

The song, which was performed lived during carnaval, is subtitled in English, Spanish, Italian, French, German and Dutch.

Embratur filmed the video in the streets and also included aerial shots of the Cerveja and Cia block parade on Saturday (1st of March) and the Coruja block parade, on Monday (3rd of March). These parades were part of the Barra-Ondina carnival circuit.
