Expect an exciting array of eggsplosive Easter fun at The Royal Gunpowder Mills which is open daily during the school holidays from Saturday 28 March – Sunday 12 April, including the Easter weekend.
Professor Nitrate is back in his MadLab this Easter and is set to unveil even more 'secret science' experiments, he's always on the look-out for willing volunteers to test his latest theories so visitors will need to be prepared for fun-filled and, occasionally, smoke-filled adventures.
Over Easter bank holiday weekend there is a bevy of children's activities and amazing explosive arena events. Good Friday and Saturday will provide special Easter activities designed for younger children, with a traditional Easter Egg Hunt, crafts and face-painting as well as the chance to meet the Easter bunny all ensuring a delightful day out.
On Easter Sunday and Monday get set for a spectacular arena event featuring live gunpowder and other pyrotechnic explosives in twice daily shows. In the MadLab Professor Nitrate has his own big bang theories and some seriously special eggsplosive-themed experiments, things could get messy!
Head down on to the Test Range and participate in some fantastic fun and games, try your hand at launching rockets and firing air soft rifles. Ride on bikes, trikes and carts and try our new 'Mega Marble Run'.
As well as rocket making and launching workshops, don't miss the Rocket Vault where you can see some of the rockets worked on when Royal Gunpowder Mills was a top secret government research facility.
Set in 170 acres of natural parkland, the Royal Gunpowder Mills mixes fascinating secret history, exciting science and beautiful surroundings to produce a different day out for all the family. Take a trip in the land-train or military truck to discover more about this secret island.
Visitors can trace the history of explosives in a stunning audio-visual show, uncover the truth behind the infamous Gunpowder Plot, come face to face with some real space rockets and get to grips with more than 200 firearms ranging from muskets to machine guns in the fascinating Armoury.
