Easter Eggs-Travaganza At Greywalls

Greywalls

Come and celebrate Easter at our beautiful family home in the heart of east Lothian. Enjoy a three-course gourmet Easter dinner in our restaurant with magnificent views down to the sea, and traditional full Scottish breakfast the following morning. We have refurbished a number of our bedrooms this year, ensuring you the greatest luxury and home comforts this Easter weekend. 140 pppn. Greywalls, East Lothian is a peaceful, upmarket country house surrounded by a wealth of beaches and Scotlands championship golf courses. Driving up to Greywalls, you are immediately enveloped by the charm and intimacy of this unique country retreat, built by the world renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens in the early 1900s.

Just 30 minutes from Edinburgh, Greywalls is the perfect hideaway in which to indulge in good food and fine wine, and to unwind in the exceptionally comfortable surroundings of a well-loved family home.

Set in an enchanting walled garden, the hotel exudes Edwardian elegance with 23 bedrooms individually adorned with fresh flowers, classic art, antiques and books. Some of these rooms have French windows and a verandah with views down to the firth of forth. Six of the rooms sit outside the main hotel in lodges and gatehouses, which are all a part of Lutyens original plans. The two gatehouses once housed the footmen, sixteen in one room, and now provide secluded accommodation at the bottom of the drive, while the kings loo, quite literally providing the facilities for king Edward Vics toilette when he visited, is now a luxury suite set apart from the house and favoured by honeymoon couples. The four bedroom colonels house offers private accommodation for groups of up to eight. A housekeeper cooks full Scottish breakfast in the mornings, giving guests independence and privacy with all the comforts of a hotel.

Over the years the hotel has built up an enviable reputation for its excellent food, using the best of Scotlands well-stocked larder. Head chef David Williams, who came to the hotel from Londons Michelin star restaurant chapter one in early 2005, has brought a touch of the cosmopolitan to east Lothians number one restaurant. He grows his own vegetables and herbs, and butchers his own meat, ensuring he uses the best cuts. In the evening the restaurant is open to non-residents. There is also a small private dining room which will seat a maximum of twenty, ideal for birthday parties and other intimate celebrations.

Greywalls has two tennis courts, a croquet lawn and putting green within the gardens, and is within easy reach of east Lothians wealth of championship golf courses. It is also surrounded by beautiful beaches, nature reserves and stately homes, offering its guests the ideal base for sporting activity as much for culture and indulgent relaxation.

Renowned for its warm welcome and personal approach, Greywalls is a very special place to stay within a stones throw of Scotlands capital city.

The house has been owned by the weaver family since 1926 and has been a hotel since 1948. The landscaped gardens are styled on Gertrude Jekylls designs who worked closely with Sir Edwin Lutyens. The colonel's house is an additional lodge just beyond Greywalls gates, which provides exclusive accommodation for up to eight people. It is ideal for those who enjoy the service of a hotel but want the space and informality of a private home.
