East meets West at VEDA over Lunch
(28 June 2019, Hong Kong)
VEDA, Hong Kong's ground-breaking vegetarian restaurant, has launched two brand new lunch sets available daily: The Eastern Tiffin and the Western Tiffin (HK$188) - featuring a tasteful array of comfort dishes and treats from opposite culinary origins. 'Tiffin' refers to a common practice in India today, where freshly made homecooked dishes are packed into the iconic stainless-steel lunch boxes for workers and students on-the-go. With the chef's creative finesse at VEDA, the Tiffin is transformed into a gratifying spread of gourmet bites, while preserving elements of humble and hearty homemade food.
The Eastern Tiffin features a selection of VEDA's signature eastern delights, including the beloved Kathmandu Momos, generously filled with spinach and ricotta with a side of smoked chilli and tomato achaar, and vegan friendly Streetside Pani Puri made with spiced potato chaat, spicy mint, and coriander water. VEDA's Soba Noodle Salad, tossed in a sesame and shallot dressing, is also included, alongside the signature Corn Khichdi with Wild Mushroom Curry – a wholesome corn porridge with a tomato-based wild mushroom and green pea curry, and to finish, a delightful slice of VEDA's popular vegan Fig Cheesecake.
The Western Tiffin contains an appetizing array of side dishes: the homemade Traditional Hummus, Sweet Potato Fries cooked to perfection, and of course, the VEDA-favourite Za'atar Roasted Carrots with Kale, Quinoa and Blood Orange – a gluten-free, vegan and superfood-packed dish tossed in a dynamic and balanced citrus and maple dressing. As the main act, the hearty Homemade Semolina and Potato Gnocchi with creamy spinach sauce and freshly grated Grana Padano is offered. The new, must-try Negroni Pie – a rich combination of white chocolate and orange mousse coated in a Negroni glaze and topped with crispy meringue – perfectly rounds off the delicious lunch set.
Those looking for more can opt for add-ons, including Soup of the Day (+HK$40), Brussels Sprouts (+HK$40) with ginger and Sriracha mayo, a homemade Artichoke Hummus (+HK$48) or the crispy Quinoa Arancini (+HK$35).
For an extra refreshing kick, diners can complement their lunches with VEDA's Fresh Pressed Juices (HK$78), including Glowing Skin – a combination of carrot, ginger, turmeric, celery and blood orange, Healthy Dew with pineapple, celery, ginger and lemon, or a green Raw Fuel with broccoli, pineapple, celery and romaine for that extra boost of energy. Also available are VEDA's all-natural Smoothies (HK$78), including the refreshing Mango Lassi or the signature Super Veda which is a rich and sweet blend of avocado, banana, peanut butter, honey, cacao and coconut milk.
Guests can also opt for VEDA's Signature Iced Teas (HK$50), wines by the glass (HK$88) or beers (HK$78).
VEDA's brand new Tiffin Lunches are now available daily, 12pm to 3pm.

About Hetty McKinnon
Hetty McKinnon is an Australian cook and food writer with a passion for vegetables.
In 2011, Hetty established Arthur Street Kitchen, a community kitchen with a simple concept: local food for local people. From her inner-city terrace kitchen in Surry Hills, Sydney, Hetty dreamed up and cooked flavor-packed, hearty, seasonal salads, which she delivered to locals on her bike.
In 2015, Hetty - with her family and Arthur Street Kitchen in tow - relocated to the rather larger neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. Here, she has continued to build meaningful relationships via her creative pop-up events, workshops, lunches and dinners.
