Driving (And Flying) Home For Christmas

BDL Hotels

Airport parking charges can add up to £100 [1] per week to the cost of travel, diminishing the savings on even the lowest airfare.

These costs, along with increasing services offered by non-central airports where public transport is limited, are resulting in the rise of hotel Stay, Park and Fly packages.

More and more hotels are offering the package concept in conjunction with airports all across the UK, many representing a cheaper option than equivalent parking costs alone. It also has the added bonus of a hassle-free start to the journey, particularly with more anti-social flight departure times.

Some of the best deals include the Holiday Inn Express Dunstable, near London Luton Airport, where Stay Park and Fly rates start from £74.95 including breakfast and up to 15 days parking.

For those flying home for the holidays from Belfast International Airport, the Holiday Inn Express Antrim is also offering a stay, park and fly package from £74.95, which includes breakfast and transfers.

These offers present a number of cost savings and benefits to those heading home or away for the festivities, particularly families that want to avoid negotiating a complicated programme of public transport with young children and Christmas gifts in tow.

Located within the ground of Robin Hood Airport, the Ramada Encore Doncaster offers packages priced from £79 per room, with parking for up to 21 days.

Located just minutes from Glasgow International Airport, The Erskine Bridge Hotel and Spa is offering travellers up to two weeks parking, from just £53, on a room only basis.  The package includes overnight accommodation and either a full Scottish or continental breakfast for those with earlier flights.

These packages also offer notable savings with larger airports. At Heathrow, the Holiday Inn London Heathrow offers a Stay, Park and Fly package from £75 including a hot buffet breakfast and parking for up to 15 days.
