Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize finalists to showcase their collections at The Dorchester during fashion season

(London) - During London Fashion Week from 13 to 17 September, guests and visitors of The Dorchester will have the opportunity to view some of the collections of the five soon to be shortlisted candidates of the 2013 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize.

Synonymous with the fashion world since 1931, The Dorchester has welcomed some of the most influential people in the industry. This September, the hotel invites everyday fashionistas to be the first to see the designs of the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize finalists exclusively showcased in the hotel lobby.

The five finalists will be selected in late July by an international panel of judges recruited by Dorchester Collection hotels in each of their respective countries, including Lorenz Baumer, Derek Blasberg, Vivia Ferragamo, Daniella Helayel, Caroline Issa, Stephen Jones OBE, Rupert Sanderson and Stephen Webster.

On 29 October the five finalists will put on a catwalk presentation showcasing their collections in front of an audience of VIPs and global media at The Dorchester. Taking into consideration each of the designers' original creativity, the judges will select one candidate who they believe best mirrors the individual character of Dorchester Collection hotels whilst demonstrating potential for long-term success in one of the most competitive of industries.

The 2013 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize carries an endowment of £25,000 to help establish the designer's brand, a two night stay at a Dorchester Collection hotel and, in a new element launched this year, the prospect of one-to-one mentoring from a selection of the judges.

Notes to editors:

Established in 2010, the annual Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize was created to discover emerging fashion talent and build on Dorchester Collection's own established fashion heritage. It is the first award of its kind developed by a luxury hotel company.

The esteemed panel of judges evolves year to year and has included world renowned and critically-acclaimed members of the fashion elite including Manolo Blahnik, Thom Browne, Francisco Costa, Daphne Guinness, Stephen Jones, Yasmin Le Bon, Marchesa's Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, Elizabeth Saltzman and Kenzo Takada.

Each year shortlisted finalists take part in a glamorous catwalk event hosted at one of the Dorchester Collection hotels, at which the winner is announced. The 2012 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize was held at Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris in October, an ideal locale steeped in fashion history.

Previous winners have included Thomas Tait, Anndra Neen and Augustin Teboul.
