Dorchester Collection hotels are launching a variety of culinary offerings this year from new speciality cocktails in Milan and a series of wine evenings in London, to Wolfgang Puck masterclasses in Los Angeles.
The Dorchester in London has developed a new series of informal wine evenings hosted by master sommelier Ronan Sayburn. These tastings will provide guests with the opportunity to discover differing wine styles, whilst sharing anecdotes and tales from the wine industry. Rates start from just £39 per person including VAT.
In honour of its newly restored Polo Lounge, The Beverly Hills Hotel is reintroducing afternoon tea on Fridays and Saturdays, complete with a 'tea expert' to assist guests in choosing top international tea selections, as well as alcohol infused options. The Polo Lounge's renowned entertainment offering continues with a live jazz trio to accompany brunch on Sunday, guitars and vocal entertainment for dinner, and a pianist during afternoon tea.
In Paris, Le Meurice is launching a variety of new banqueting offers. These include a private wine tasting with head sommelier Estelle Touzet followed by a dinner in one of the banqueting rooms; a cocktail making class with bar manager William Oliveri; The Grand Siècle Dinner, which looks back at the past century with traditional French service and cuisine; and a Rossini Dinner combining Rossini's music and recipes. Hôtel Plaza Athénée has unveiled a number of new dining experiences in honour of its centenary year. Alain Ducasse at Plaza Athénée offers a hot truffle and guinea fowl paté; at Le Relais Plaza, a calf's head with spicy tomato sauce and macaire potatoes is available; and for breakfast, in the Galerie des Gobelins, guests can choose from poached eggs cardinal or a seasonal fruit melba created by Christophe Michalak. A 'Harcourt Baccarat' centenary cocktail at Le Bar du Plaza Athénée is also available all year round. The cocktail combines blackberries, strawberries, cranberries and Cognac and is served in a glass designed by Baccarat, topped with a dash of passion fruit and champagne for a refreshing finish. It is priced at €28.
In Milan, Hotel Principe di Savoia invites guests to enjoy its limited edition monthly cocktails. For April, to celebrate the hotel's 86th anniversary, the bar has created the 'Principe Anniversario' cocktail with Belvedere Vodka, Disaronno, Blue Curaçao, freshly squeezed lemon juice and Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne served in the 'chandelier cup'. Cocktails are priced at €20 each.
Recently renovated Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, has introduced new mixology, wine, and culinary classes at Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air. With Puck's expert team, guests can learn the art of making cocktails, tasting wine, and preparing meals with emphasis on California's regional products. Masterclasses are offered for groups of six or more, with prices ranging from $55 to $125 depending on the class.
Hotel Bel-Air has also unveiled the 'Taste of California' package, combining the best of California's cuisine with its celebrated wine country. Puck and his culinary team will create a custom five-course tasting menu for guests featuring the very best from local farmers' markets. The wine director, Rob Harpest, will then pair each course with wine selections from California's top producers. The package includes overnight accommodation in a Deluxe Room from $840.
Celebrating the start of the British polo season this April, Coworth Park, the only English country house hotel to enjoy its very own polo grounds, introduces new polo inspired cocktails. The Polo Cocktails will include the 'Modern Julab', the 'Under the Neck', the 'Number Three' and the 'Park Polo Cup', all available alongside the original cocktail list and priced at £14 each.
London's 45 Park Lane is home to Wolfgang Puck's European debut restaurant CUT, where the popular brunch is now available on both Saturdays and Sundays. With live jazz, the brunch includes two courses, coffee, fresh juice and a signature Bloody Mary made to taste or a glass of champagne. The brunch menu features a variety of dishes such as buttermilk pancakes with whipped maple butter and seasonal berries, and salt beef hash cake with poached organic eggs and sauce béarnaise.
45 Park Lane is also leading the way in gourmet popcorn with its own popcorn steak seasoning, inspired by the restaurant's outstanding steaks. Guests can enjoy the latest popcorn flavour to emerge in London, an ideal complement to cocktails and now available upon request at Bar 45.
Le Richemond in Geneva has recently unveiled a new cocktail menu at the bar, reminding guests of the 1920's speakeasy clubs of the prohibition era. These vintage cocktails include the traditional Negroni, Bloody Mary, Old-Fashioned, and the Manhattan and are priced at CHF26 each.
