Bali, Indonesia - Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel was chosen within Top 15 Green Hotel at 2013 Indonesia Green Hotel Awards. The Green Hotel Awards was initiated by Indonesia's Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy in 2011 and given every two years. The awards are a serious effort from the Government together with Indonesia's hotel industry to apply the green concept throughout Indonesia. 'Although initial application to build the green hotel requires substantial funds, yet keeping our environment healthy and green is all our responsibility," said Mrs. Mari Elka Pangestu, Indonesia's Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy.

Emerging as a winner was Discovery Kartika Plaza very own sister property, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta. Hotel Borobudur Jakarta was given highest marks for its recycling of waste water and green cleaning, where recycled water was used to water the hotel's extensive gardens and to flush toilets. The hotel also reduced waste, use of water and battery and economized on Air Conditioning.
