Exploring rainforests, mountains, glaciers, coasts, limestone gorges and blowholes, the group sees a secret, glow-worm grotto, spots migrating whales and basking seals and learns about the flora and fauna from local experts. The trail covers the Queen Charlotte Walkway, Arthur’s Pass National Park and the Southern Alps, the Fox and Franz Josef glaciers and the natural gorge on the Porari River. Walk Leader John Knox is one of The Wayfarers’ most popular and knowledgeable guides. Often described as a ‘legend’ by guests, John’s expertise on New Zealand culture, geography, flora and fauna is truly second to none.
