An adventurer's paradise, every year South America attracts intrepid explorers from across the globe. True to form, Secret Compass has pioneered three unique expeditions to explore its wildest reaches in 2018.
Venezuela: Abseil the World's Highest Waterfall
In February 2018, a team of eight will climb the only known route up to the tabletop summit of Auyán-tepui, first attempted in 1927 to rescue the pilot Jimmy Angel. Once at the summit, this pioneering team will go where few have gone, lowering themselves over the edge to abseil all 979m of the aptly named, world's highest waterfall.
Not for the faint-hearted, this 2-day descent will require teammates to rappel down the 979m drop of the falls in 23 rope lengths, camping on a rocky outcrop overnight.

Argentina: Live like Patagonia's Original Cowboys
Where the road ends, the true wilderness of Argentina begins. On this immersive expedition, 10 team mates will ride off on horseback into a remote, 100,000 acre estancia to live as the Patagonia's gaucho's have for hundreds of years.
After embracing of the gaucho way of live in Patagonian wilderness, the team will embark on an exploratory horseback pack trip in the volcanic region of Cerro Negro.

Panama: Cross the Darien Gap On Foot
The aim of this epic jungle trekking expedition is to cross the infamous Darien Gap on foot from Puerto Quimba to Playa Muerto. Forging a route through the humid, mostly uninhabited rainforests dividing North America from South, teammates will uncover hidden, 5,000-year-old stone carvings – seen only by a privileged handful of explorers for generations. In the company of a renowned naturalist and local expert, you'll meet Embera Indians en route, and wild camp in hammocks near village settlements overnight.
