Discover the Real Poldark With a Stay at Cornwall's Polurrian Bay Hotel

Luxury Family Hotels

Spend some time in the unspoilt, picturesque landscapes of Cornwall, where the BBC filmed its adaptation of Poldark currently on screens.

Poldark fans can follow in the footsteps of the handsome Ross Poldark this spring with the 'Poldark Package' at the Polurrian Bay Hotel, where the gorgeous views and stunning scenery will transport you back in time.

Polurrian Bay Hotel is part of the Luxury Family Hotel group and is perched above a secluded beach, on the South West Coast Path and surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Lizard Peninsula which serves as the backdrop to the action.

The Poldark Package is a four night stay from £500 per room based upon two adults sharing (kids stay free). Price includes a full Cornish breakfast each morning, a two course dinner for two on two of the evenings, a 30 minute spa treatment and a complimentary upgrade subject to availability at the time of booking.

Based on Winston Graham's acclaimed novels set in Cornwall in the 18th Century, Poldark tells the story of Ross Poldark, an Army officer who returns to England after fighting in the American War of Independence to discover that his fiancée Elizabeth had believed him dead and has since married his cousin. Poldark then marries his maid, Demelza but is forever torn between the two women.

Poldark aficionados will be in their element as some of the swashbuckling BBC drama was filmed close to Polurrian Bay and the shipwreck scenes were shot on the Lizard Peninsula, which the hotel overlooks. In addition, the 'real' Poldark Mine is situated just outside Helston – just 11 miles from the hotel and for an adventure into Cornwall's Mining Heritage guests can visit – it is the only complete underground mine open to the public in Cornwall and Devon.

Gunwalloe Church Cove is also only 3½ miles away from the hotel and is an attractive south-west facing cove on the Lizard with a stream running through the sandy beach that is ideal for paddling.

In addition to exploring the filming locations, guests can take advantage of the hotel's exclusive beach at Polurrian Cove and enjoy bodyboarding, rock-pooling and building sandcastles. Indoors, they can relax in the glass fronted Vista lounge admiring the views that are as rugged as Poldark himself; or have a tranquil spa treatment or swim.
