Pura Aventura

Next month (Thurs 23 June), the Royal Geographical Society will play host to Patagonia: An Evening with the Experts, a free-to-attend event dedicated to the wildlife, landscapes and people of Patagonia.  The evening, organised by Pura Aventura, the tailor-made adventure travel specialists to Latin America, will see them joined by expert speakers Bill Oddie, Tuppence Stone and Hugh Sinclair who will each bring this majestic region to life.

  • Listen as Bill Oddie OBE, conservationist, author and wildlife TV presenter, entertains with tales of the parrots, penguins and whales he witnessed during his time spent filming on a wilderness reserve in Argentinian Patagonia for the BBC.
  • Learn about the most memorable people, places and creatures encountered by Tuppence Stone, Producer of BBC2's recent Patagonia: Earth's Secret Paradise, and enjoy the stunning visuals of her time spent filming in Chile and Argentina.
  • Presenting human tales from the region will be Hugh Sinclair, co-author of the Bradt guide to Chile's Carretera Austral (published December 2015). Hugh has spent the last five years living in Patagonia and has a profound knowledge of the region, in particular Chile's Southern Highway and the challenges faced by the people who live there.

The talks will be followed by a panel discussion, with the opportunity for guests to ask questions of the speakers. What's more, attendees will have the opportunity to be entered into a draw on the night to win two places on a one-off group tour to Chilean Patagonia in 2017, to be led by Pura Aventura co-founder Thomas Power.

The evening is free to attend, but, as numbers are limited, pre-registration is required here.
