Corsican Places

Discover some of the most beautiful corners of Corsica by foot with a selection of walking holidays on offer through destination specialist, Corsican Places. To experience some of the island’s most spectacular scenery the operator presents a collection of self-guided itineraries which encompass some of Corsica’s best walking trails and tours.

Home to the highest mountains and greatest number of rivers of any Mediterranean island, Corsica has long been renowned for its wild and rugged beauty. Characterised by snow-capped mountains, deep gorges, fragrant pine forests, cascading waterfalls and scenic high-top villages, Corsica’s dramatic interior provides much to explore, while its unspoilt coastline bounded by secluded coves and sandy bays with crystal clear waters and pretty seaside towns is also a huge draw.

For the perfect introduction to the scenic Balagne region of the north west, Corsican Places highlights its Corsican Island Mystery. Designed to provide an ideal contrast between coastal scenery and rugged mountains, the 8-day tour starts and finishes in the popular town of Calvi, with its medieval citadel, lively marina and sandy bay. Character accommodation and traditional food is included along the way with four days of moderately challenging walking. With Spring being the perfect season for walking where temperatures are pleasant and without crowds, Corsican Places is offering over £200 pp savings with prices from £998 pp for travel 18th April. This price includes return flights, (departing from either Stansted or Manchester), hotel accommodation on mixed board (5 nights half board + 2 nights B&B), luggage transfers between hotels on the walk, maps, route notes and airport transfers.

The tour begins with a scenic train journey inland departing from Calvi to the university town and former capital, Corte from where the walk along an old mule path from Scala di Santa Regina will lead into the central Niolu valley. The path passes by pine forests and tumbling mountain rivers that plunge through a series of waterfalls to form perfect natural rock pools. Once on the west coast, there’s great opportunity to explore the small mountain villages, get accustomed to the rural Corsican way of life and experience the jaw-dropping scenery along the Spelunca gorge and Calanches de Piana.
