Lefay Resort & Spa Lago di Garda has created a new programme of activities and excursions for their guests to experience Lake Garda, including a private visit to one of the last surviving lemon houses in the region.
The region used to be famous for its distinctively designed wooden lemon houses. Now Lefay has organised for its guests to have a private tour around 'La Malora', one of the oldest and last lemon houses still in production on Lake Garda. Not generally open to the public, Lefay guests will meet owner Giuseppe Gandossi, who will explain how the lemons are grown. Guests will have a chance to enjoy Giuseppe's homemade drinks and sample his pickles and jams, before exploring the shore side town of Gargnano. The cost is £14 (20 euros) per couple and includes a private transfer to and from Gargnano.
For those keen to get out on the water, Lefay has teamed up with the Gargnano Sailing Club to organise private sailing lessons for its guests, suitable for all ages and experience. Proud of its sailing tradition, Lake Garda is one of the best places to learn to sail, with excellent conditions and unforgettable views. A four hour course costs £166 (230 euros) per couple and an eight hour course costs £263 (365 euros) per couple. Prices include transfers to and from Bogliaco harbour, boat hire and private lessons.
For the really active, Lefay has organised a trekking excursion through the heart of the Upper Garda nature reserve. Setting out from the resort, a professional guide takes guests up to the peak of Monte Castello di Gaino, which rises more than 800 metres above Lake Garda and offers expansive views of the lake and of the Apennines mountain range to the south and the Alps to the north. The cost is £130 (180 euros) per couple and includes a guide, water and a packed lunch.
For lovers of cycling, Lefay supplies mountain bikes and a guide to explore the paths around the lake. The excursions are personalised for each guest and cater from beginners who want a less strenuous ride, to expert riders who want a challenging training session. The cost is £22 (30 euros) per person for a half day and £32 (45 euros) for a full day and includes mountain bike, helmet and a professional guide.
Other activities include, horse riding with a professional instructor through the Upper Garda nature reserve, a guided motorised boat trip and swimming in the lake's hidden bays, a visit to 'Le Sincette', the only certified organic winery on Lake Garda and an excursion to the well-known Andrè Heller Botanical Garden Foundation.
Rooms at Lefay Resort & Spa start from Euros 290 per night and include breakfast, transfers to Gargnano, access to the pools and saunas and use of mountain bikes. For reservations visit www.lefayresorts.com.
