Mucha became famous for his theatre posters of the French actress Sarah Bernhardt and as the creator of Art Nouveau posters. Mucha also designed the first postage stamps and bank notes of the independent Czechoslovak state. 

 

ALFONS MUCHA'S SLAV EPIC

 

Alfon's Mucha's fine art masterpiece- The Slav Epic- has returned to Prague after 84 years of being exhibited at the Moravsky Krumlov chateau. Mucha's Slav Epic is inspired by Slavic mythology and is set of large-format canvases displaying various moments in history of the Slav people.Through the course of sixteen years, Mucha had created 20 large paintings, celebrating Slav unity and nationalism through religion and culture of Slav nations.The current exhibit at the Trade Fair Palace displays the paintings in chronological order of the depicted scenes.

IVAN LENDL'S ART NOUVEAU COLLECTION

 

The tennis star Ivan Lendl, who is a great enthusiast and connoisseur of Mucha's work, is for the first time displaying publically his full collection of Mucha's posters! The collection of 151 posters is being exhibited until July 31st at an Art Nouveau architectural landmark, the Municipal House in Prague that Mucha helped to decorate. The collection is arranged chronologically and portrays Mucha's development as a decorative painter who tapped the growing potential of using art in advertising.Mr. Lendl will personally participate in several guided tours.
