Escorted touring specialist Distant Journeys has launched a new 19-day Highlights of South America tour that crosses the continent from Peru's vibrant capital city of Lima to the iconic beaches of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Along the way there are opportunities to marvel at Inca archaeology in the Sacred Valley, wander the lost city of Machu Picchu, feel the passion of the Argentine Tango in Buenos Aires, and stand in awe of the thundering power of Iguazú Falls. 

The trip is packed full of once in a lifetime experiences, with other highlights including:

 - Learning the significance of Andean weaving

 - Enjoying Peru's dramatic mountain scenery aboard the Vistadome Observatory train

 - Taking in breathtaking vistas of the Andean landscape aboard the Titicaca Train

 - Hearing about the time-honoured traditions and lifestyles of Lake Titicaca's indigenous floating communities

 - Marvelling at Rio de Janeiro's iconic landmark of Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain

The trip costs from £6,695 per person for the 4 February and 4 March 2027 departures and includes international flights from the UK, overseas transfers and transport in modern air-conditioned coaches, carefully selected hotels, daily breakfast, four lunches, high-tea on board the Titicaca train and two dinners, all accompanied by an experienced Tour Manager.

Prices include savings of £200 per person, which are currently being offered on 2027 departures, when booked by 15th May 2026.
