Explore the mountainous landscapes, history-laden cities and stunning beaches of East Timor on Grasshopper Adventures' new Bike Timor Leste tour.
Feel like a pioneer as you discover this little-visited tropical island, one of the world's newest countries and still a sparsely populated, underdeveloped nation.
Grasshopper's 14-day tour starts and ends in the capital, Dili, a vibrant cultural and administrative hub that has bustling markets, Portuguese colonial-era buildings, fascinating museums and golden beaches where locals share a drink as the sun sets.
From there, travellers will visit towns famous for their fresh fish, tamarind and coffee production, cycle to the easternmost tip of the island at Tutuala, before heading into the densely forested mountains, where a sense of remoteness and cultural discovery awaits.
Accommodation ranges from a beautiful beachside hotel in Dili to more humble rural lodgings, such as beachfront cabanas, rainforest eco-lodges and hilltop Portuguese pousadas, or guesthouses.
Delicious fresh meals are included in the tour, and there will be ample opportunity to sample Timor's famous coffee.
This Pioneering tour is a BYOB – Bring Your Own Bike – adventure, due to the limited availability of quality gear in the country. All Timor tours are supported by at least two all-terrain 4WDs, as well as two highly experienced guides.
