InterContinental Hotels Group has announced the appointment of Mr Stephen Mulligan to the position of director of operations � InterContinental Hotels London and general manager of the InterContinental London. Based at the company�s flagship property in London, Mulligan will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the three InterContinental Hotels in London. The portfolio of hotels includes; InterContinental London, InterContinental May Fair London and InterContinental The Churchill London.

Mulligan was previously Area Vice President Operations Northern Europe for InterContinental Hotels Group, a position he has held since 1999, originally based in Vienna, and more recently in Frankfurt. Prior to this, over a period of seven years, he held two consecutive general manager�s positions in London at the InterContinental The Churchill London and at the Holiday Inn London Kensington Forum, where he was also regional vice president operations of InterContinental and Forum Hotels in Holland and Belgium.

His career with InterContinental Hotels Group began in 1971 with a variety of food and beverage management posts in Dubai, Muscat, Bahrain and Jordan. In 1982, he became executive assistant manager at the Britannia Millennium (formerly Britannia InterContinental London). Subsequent posts in London included resident manager and manager at the InterContinental May Fair London and InterContinental London respectively. Since 1988, he has held general manager�s positions at the InterContinental Hannover (currently Maritim Hotel) and the InterContinental Dusseldorf (currently Radisson SAS Hotel).

British born Mulligan is married and has two grown up children. Listed among his many hobbies are golf and mountain walking. -ends �
