The Cary Arms, which lies in the heart of the UNESCO English Riviera Geopark, has launched three 'Rock 'n' Stroll' weekends in celebration of 400 million years of geology. The de Savary owned five star boutique inn is running the three themed weekends this autumn led by local geologist and Fellow of the Royal Geological Society, Richard Blagden. Richard will lead the small group weekends with cliff-top walks and cave exploration, taking in the dramatic coastline and geological wonders hidden coves of the internationally recognised Geopark. The two night Rock 'n' Stroll weekends are priced from £335 per person.
The Cary Arms is located in a stunning coastal position on Babbacombe Bay within the English Riviera Geopark. The area received international recognition for its rich geological, historical and cultural heritage in 2007 when it became just one of 57 areas around the world to be both endorsed by UNESCO and welcomed into the Geopark Networks.
Highlights over the weekend will include a stunning two hour coastal walk to prehistoric cave, Kents Cavern, discovery of 400-million-year-old limestone layers, seeing raised Ice Age beaches and gold infused rock. There is also a walk to Oddicombe Beach to see the many different types of rock and fossils within the Geopark. The weekend leader, Richard Blagden, grew up in Babbacombe and has been walking the South West Coast Path since a young age, enabling him to offer a fascinating insight into the area. Each evening there is a three course meal and a hearty power breakfast each morning.
The break includes two nights' accommodation in luxury sea facing accommodation, pre-dinner drinks and canapés, a three course dinner both nights, entry to Kents Cavern with lunch and the guided walks. An additional child costs from £75 and upgrades to one of the chic new Beach Huts is from £50 per night.
Rock 'n' Stroll weekends are running from 28th-30th October 2016, 11th-13th November 2016 and 18th-20th November 2016.
